I am quite surprised at the response we got for Do Dil. It was definitely extraordinary!
I guess I have to thank God, first and foremost, for all that he has endowed us with – talent, fans, looks
…. aaaah… someone mentioned that I take vanity to another level altogether … Dig this dude!
But still… that doesn’t let go off the fact that I’m awed. And, as always, as I try to understand the whys and how’s of my amazement, I do get some directions for an answer…
I think what stands out the most is that even after all these ups and downs, noori has one hell of a fan base (I am trying to look at noori as an outsider here … and this is not another show of vanity).
Some of these fans are no longer fans for me, they are friends; in fact one of them is a real close friend now. And so when my friends start acting like ‘groupies’ (and I am quoting their own words here), even I get a bit uncomfortable.
Who befriends a fan?????… now I AM being vain
…
But, just to put it in short, what makes noori stand out the most is the relationship we have with our fans. I think I can proudly say that we have taken this relationship to another level altogether. And I also believe that, with time, the world will also come to appreciate this; as we will continue to develop it more and more.
What all this does for me (and Noor also) is that it makes me realize that this noori business is much bigger than my own person, and that I am only an agent in a much bigger linkage. I might be the face representing this band (just like Obama is the face representing USA – vanity again!), but the real elements are all those others who are involved – as listeners, as fans, as critics, as channels and so on and so forth. And that each of these elements has some sort of claim on this reality called noori.
The response we got from Do Dil, has clearly shown that! I guess the fact that noori re-emerged after so long was enough to create the response we’re getting.
And I couldn’t be happier!!! … and I also couldn’t feel more a sense of responsibility towards the bigger reality I mentioned above.
So, for all those who have been wondering about the fate of noori, let me assure you that as long as I am there, I will make every god damn effort to make it last and grow further!
Yes there will be ups and downs, as life is a much much bigger reality… but the determination is my own, and nothing (but myself) will stop me from being determined.
….
God bless America! Pakistan Zindabad!
P.S. I think I am finding a really creative (read fraudulent) way of using tags

LOL, Hamza the Great? Seriously? Loving the tags.
So, is the title ‘unexpectedly amazing’ referring to yourself or the responses you got to ‘Do Dil’…Don’t want to assume without confirming..After all, you do take vanity to a different level altogether. Bet that adds to your *charm*…
anyway, thanks for providing me with a much needed break through the writing..write on:)

First of all, Your tags are crazy here!
lol
As far as this post is concerned, I have always felt and understood the facts and figures. The fan following (A particular group of Fans) of Noori was not just ordinary, the individual’s work and dedication towards their work and above all , their Professionalism proved out alot.
Not just for you guys but even I got surprised and amazed after witnessing the guys making wonders… Noori, proved out not to be a Band making songs but a perfectly user friendly playing area where everyone shared ideas and made their thoughts grow. Including both Ali Noor and you Hamza.
Just like you both, every other Fan learned alot. And it wasn’t only the Songs, it was the interaction… Taken to the next level (Thanks to Mr.Hamza, i love you…)
So, as the journey moves on a little more further, All i can expect is this bond be more strong… Not only professionally but Personally
And with time, i think i learned one thing… Noori is not only your band now, Its “Everyone’s” Band. So, lets see where everyone takes it now

November 18, 2008 at 10:13 am
Hi Hamza,
I m sorry but the song Do Dil has been a dissapointment to me. I am a huge fan of Noori and really appreciate the first and the second album. The thing that made noori different was the fact that you guys were daring than others. In a way that Noori wasnt making crap lovey dovey songs that sell, instead Noori was bold enough to not give a damn to what sells or what tops the charts. The other thing about the song Do Dil is that it is too cheasy and the lyrics are definitely not strong enough. It just doesnt feel like a Noori song. I really really hope you guys come back with songs that Noori would come up with.
P.S. this is just positive critiscm from a die hard Noori Fan.
November 18, 2008 at 7:01 pm
Shahmeer,
Thanks a lot for your comments. Criticism is always valuable. In no way am I writing this to change your opinion, in fact I want to re-inforce the idea that noori is still as daring as it was.
But yes, we want to branch out. There is a variety of individuals who listen to noori, and we always try our best to communicate with each category.
As far as Do Dil is concerned, this is what started noori. So this is in a way the very essence of noori
If you think what you have seen of noori until now is all that noori is, there is a lot in store for you
I wont say much… just hang in there… and have faith
November 19, 2008 at 3:51 am
Hi Hamza,
I am in a way amazed and startled for the way you acknowleged my critiscim. Often people tend to get very territorial when dealing with critiscm even if it is positive critiscm.
And I guess knowing now that this is the first ever song that was composed by Noori, changes my perception about the song all together. The song came to me as a disspointment because after listening to such mature and well crafted songs like Khalla, Ooncha, Nishaan and Meray Loog, I thought Do Dil just wasn’t Noori’s style.
Anyway, I m hoping to hear more songs form your new album. Infact one of my morning rituals other than getting a cup of coffee and reading news, is to goto NooriWorld.net and see if the new album has been released yet. I guess this anticipation for the new album is due to the fact that the second album had a major impact on me, the songs were deep and meaningful. (Not like the crap you hear from a lot of new Bands these days). The songs made me think and the words in the songs were engraved at the back of my mind somewhere. That album in my perspective was a definite piece of art. Too bad I have never been able to buy a copy of it as it’s not available in the part of world I live in.

‘Do Dil’ rocks dude. This song is what Noori is all about. It has all the ingredients of a perfect Noori song. Rocking vocals by both the brothers and of course great magic with the strings. I swear, I am listening to this song like crazy. Hamza, good to see you emerge in the band. Oh yeah, not to be offensive, but more critical, I must say, a great video finally. I like the red background
You guys are our voices. I have been listening to you guys since 1998 when no one even knew you guys. I am a true fan and I hope you continue to make great music and rock the world. By the way, I have been promoting Noori in the US (New Jersey/New York). You’ll be surprised to see your fan base here. Hey, please respond to my post even it is a line or two. ‘ll have something to brag about.
Once again,
“Do Dil” is awesome. This one just made it two my top 3 all time favorites.
Imagine Peace

i have to completely agree with hamza on his point that he creates a relationship with his fans.. i for one have been a noori fan way before they even released their first album, from their leaked songs til this day… and than met him couple of times when they came to canada.. and one day he asked me to perform for him at their canadian concert.. (imagine hearing that as a fan).. i jumped on that opportunity in a second (who wouldn’t) and when i got to know hamza .. it was as if i had known him for such a long time.. the guy is so down to earth … and thats what i like about this band.. no ego.. (except for being vain… but who isn’t lol)… and that is what has made noori such a success..

Knowing you since years, you have not changed a bit.
“Angrez chalay gaye, inn ko chor gaye” is so apt.
